Sapna Ventures strategy

Sapna Ventures allocates across seven areas. Each is underwritten separately and each is expected to earn its place against the alternative of holding cash.

i

Private equity

Control positions and significant minorities in profitable mid-market businesses, concentrated in the Gulf and Western Europe. Much of the flow comes from founder-owned companies facing succession, where the seller cares as much about what happens to the workforce as about the multiple. Holding periods run long by industry standards.

ii

Venture capital

Early and growth stage, taken in small size and only where the firm can be useful beyond the cheque. Preference sits with businesses selling to enterprises and governments in lieu of consumers.

iii

Technology

Enterprise software with contracted revenue, industrial automation, semiconductor supply chains, and the unglamorous infrastructure that sits underneath them. The firm underwrites cash generation over adoption curves.

iv

Digital infrastructure

Data centres, fibre routes, subsea cable, and the power arrangements that make it all viable. The Gulf’s advantage here is energy and geography, and Sapna Ventures has spent considerable time on assets that take advantage of both.

v

Real estate

Income-producing property in the Emirates alongside selective development, together with logistics and hospitality assets in Europe. Leverage is applied conservatively and refinancing risk is treated as the principal danger.

vi

Public markets

Concentrated equity mandates, sovereign and corporate fixed income, and a liquidity reserve sized so that a private commitment does not force a sale at the wrong time. Currency exposure is managed deliberately for families whose expenses and earnings occur in different denominations.

vii

Alternative investments

Private credit, real assets, secondaries and structured positions taken opportunistically when dislocation generates them. Allocations here are sized to be additive without ever becoming load bearing.
